FAQ

What is the difference between SRT and VTT?

Both list caption lines with start and end times. VTT (WebVTT) starts with a WEBVTT header, uses dots instead of commas in timings and is the format HTML5 video players read. SRT is the older, more widely supported format.

Is my subtitle file uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in JavaScript in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.

Does it keep formatting like italics?

Yes, cue text is copied as it is, including simple tags like <i>.
