Home / vs AutoSubtitles
Comparison · checked October 2026Offline Captions vs AutoSubtitles
Short answer: AutoSubtitles keeps your video in the browser but, by its own description, sends the audio track to an AI service for transcription; Pro is $9 a month. Offline Captions keeps both video and audio on your computer, works with no internet, and costs $39 once. AutoSubtitles also translates subtitles, which we don't.
Which one should you pick?
- Your audio shouldn't leave your machine either (client calls, NDA work).
- You'd rather pay once than $108 a year.
- You make videos longer than 30 minutes.
- You want a dictionary that remembers names.
- You need subtitles translated into other languages.
- You can't install apps on your computer.
- You caption only a few videos and $9 for one month is enough.

FAQ
Does AutoSubtitles upload my video?
